Introduction to IndexNow: A New Era in Search Engine Indexing

IndexNow is an open-source push protocol designed to instantly notify participating search engines whenever a website publishes, updates, or deletes content. Instead of waiting for search engines to crawl sites periodically (the traditional "pull" method), IndexNow allows websites to proactively send a ping that alerts search engines to specific URL changes, enabling much faster indexing and updating of search results.

Here is how IndexNow works in practice:

1. A website owner publishes new content, updates existing pages, or removes content.
2. The website sends an instant notification (ping) via the IndexNow API to participating search engines.
3. These search engines immediately prioritize crawling and indexing the notified URLs, significantly reducing the delay before changes appear in search results.
